LORENZO'S FIRST ONE-TWO IN MOTOGP

With nine points clear at the top of the standings after victory in Le Mans, the Fiat Yamaha rider also held on Sunday, his first double win in MotoGP.

With his flawless triumph in the Grand Prix of France Monster Energy, Jorge Lorenzo not only extended its lead in the MotoGP World Championship to nine points, also managed for the first time in his career splice two consecutive wins in the premier class. The 23-year old Spaniard beat his teammate and title rival Valentino Rossi by a margin of 5.672s. at the finish line."I am very happy to win a second consecutive race, is the first time you get into MotoGP and I feel very confident in myself," declared a delighted Lorenzo, whose essays to get a good start paid off in the test French. "Finally I got a good start, I am very pleased with it, and then I passed Pedrosa easily.""Overtaking Valentino was not so easy because braked very late and I had to be patient, something that would not have achieved a year ago. In the end I overtook him but did not expect to be able to go." My bike and the Bridgestone tires me gave very good feeling well and has not been difficult to maintain this pace. "Lorenzo won the MotoGP race last year at the French circuit and was second in his debut in the premier class last year. Rating this path the Spaniard stated: "I've done well at Le Mans since I'm in Yamaha, a second place and two victories, so I think I can say I like racing here in France!".Focusing on the fourth round of the Championship in Mugello in two weeks - a track where he finished second last season, Lawrence has anticipated it expects a tough battle to maintain their lead at the top of the standings."It's great to be leading the championship but there is a long way to go and we are going to Mugello, a circuit that I love, but where my opponents are very strong," he concluded.

ELIAS THRILLED TO TAKE MOTO2 CHAMPIONCHIP LEAD

The Gresini Racing Moto2 rider moved to the top of the intermediate category standings with victory at Le Mans, his second successive race win of the season.

Toni Elías underlined his strength as one of the main candidates for the inaugural Moto2 World Championship title with a second consecutive win over the weekend, taking victory with another commanding ride at the Monster Energy Grand Prix de France.
The Spanish rider’s achievements in the opening three rounds have been doubly impressive, as he was still recovering from a pre-season testing injury when he secured fourth in the opening race in Qatar and victory at Jerez. He then overcame a crash in qualifying at Le Mans to place himself seventh on the starting grid, going on to win the race from the second row.
“I’m really happy because we had a big problem with the crash,” said Elías. “My team replaced my bike very quickly and I was able to get back out on track within 15 minutes. It was very important to be able to start the race from seventh position on the second row.”
Elías got away well and was battling at the front of the field as a spate of crashes occurred behind him. Julián Simón managed to keep pace with Elías but the race winner – who did not relinquish the lead from lap seven onwards – was able to hold off his compatriot’s challenge to finish with a 1.336s margin of victory.
“I made a good start and many riders crashed. Simón started to catch me midway through the race, and finally I found a good rhythm in the last few laps and was able to take advantage.”
One of those who failed to finish the race was Shoya Tomizawa, whom Elías deposed from the top of the Championship standings. He now holds an 18-point lead over the Japanese rider after three rounds as they head to Mugello next.
“I love Mugello. It’s not an easy track and we have to work more to get more traction. At the moment the situation in the Championship is good, but I’m thinking race by race. Le Mans was great not just for my team but also for Moriwaki, who are also working really hard,” Elías added.

ESPARGARÓ TAKES SECOND CONSECUTIVE VICTORY OF SEASEON

The Tuenti Racing rider won a fantastic 125cc race at the Monster Energy Grand Prix de France, taking his fourth career win. Nico Terol finished second and had his Championship lead cut to two points, with Marc Márquez placing third.

Pol Espargaró (Tuenti Racing) took victory at Le Mans with a fantastic ride in the 125cc race, edging out Nico Terol (Bancaja Aspar) for the victory and narrowing his rival’s lead at the top of the World Championship standings to two points.
Terol led into the first turn after a storming start from his pole position, and Espargaró stuck on the Bancaja Aspar rider’s back wheel as the duo started to pull away after the early stages of the race.
A marvellous battle for third then began to unfold as Bradley Smith (Bancaja Aspar), Márquez, Efrén Vázquez (Tuenti Racing), and Sandro Cortese (Avant Mitsubishi Ajo) all engaged in a thrilling encounter. All the while Terol and Espargaró were riding tactically at the front, neither wanting to make a mistake.
That began to change after 16 laps as after Espargaró passed Terol, the pair started to really exchange blows. Espargaró set the fastest lap of the race as the duo set about swapping the lead, with the gap to third being cut in the meantime to five seconds.
Smith was leading the contest for third as Márquez began to push him, with Vázquez also riding hard, and a breathtaking climax then played out as the fight for podium positions became even more intense.
Down to the final two laps and Espargaró and Terol were by now locked into a fierce contest for the win. A mistake from Smith saw the British rider’s Aprilia machine wobble momentarily and Márquez capitalised to push through into third. Smith tried to recover the position but Márquez held him off in the dying moments, and Vázquez managed to slip through as well.
At the front Espargaró made his decisive move to secure the win on the last lap as he crossed the line ahead of Terol. Márquez secured the third spot on the podium, whilst Vázquez took fourth and Smith finished fifth, with Cortese completing the top six.
Italian trio Lorenzo Savadori (Matteoni C.P. Racing), Riccardo Moretti (Fontana Racing) and Marco Ravaioli (Lambretta Reparto Corse) all suffered the disappointment of not finishing the race.
